Raising the Next Generation of the Lovers of Aba Abdullah (as)

Founded by Syed Kamil, Siratilm Family exists to create a space of growth as one unit through knowledge, experiences and opportunities.

How it Started

Syed grew up in the small city of Kingston, Ontario. Watching his parents pour their energy into starting a local Hussainiya, he learned early on the beauty of dedication and faith. However, navigating life in a smaller town with limited resources highlighted a deeper need: the true importance of a vibrant, cohesive network where families can connect, lean on one another, and grow together.

In 2011, Syed set out to deepen his knowledge of Islamic sciences at the Hawza in Qom. Driven to combine this deep spiritual grounding with infrastructure that is easily accessible to his community, he returned home to Canada to complete his licensing requirements as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario. He went on to establish the Hidayah Institute, a Islam-based counseling practice.

Having been given the blessed opportunity in learning about the teachings of the Ahlul-Bayt (as), Syed has launched several impactful initiatives to share this knowledge, including Siratilm Family.

Siratilm Family is a department of Siratilm dedicated to bringing Muslim families together in a space of connection, belonging, and shared growth. Through family-centered events, children’s programs, workshops, and community initiatives, Siratilm Family seeks to strengthen relationships, foster confident Islamic identity, and create meaningful opportunities for families to build lasting bonds.

Today, with the help from the most talented in our community, we are able to create quality, effective and consistent programming.

Sirat Family was created to offer Muslim families a welcoming space to connect with one another and grow together in an Islamic environment. By organizing events, programs, and family-building opportunities, the department aims to nurture belonging, encourage strong relationships, and help families feel rooted and confident in their place within the wider community.
